Many students wait until the fall semester and winter vacation to start, but for the 680 students there are expecting much more. Nickell is the 2009 recipient of the Provost Research, Training and Development Excellence (PRIDE Award). He edited and wrote numerous books and in 2005 in the Missouri House of Representatives honored him with awards for "Outstanding Missouri.
